Privacy Policy

SubZen ("we", "our", or "the app") is a subscription tracking app developed by BuiltByMak. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data SubZen handles and how.
1. Data We Do NOT Collect
SubZen does not collect or store any personal data on our own servers. We have no backend, no user accounts, and no advertising SDKs. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
2. Data Stored On Your Device
All subscription data you enter (names, costs, billing dates, categories, notes) is stored locally on your device using on-device storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud backup.
3. iCloud Backup (Optional)
If you enable iCloud backup in Settings, your subscription data is synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's iCloud Key-Value Storage. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can disable iCloud backup at any time in the app's Settings.
4. Exchange Rates
SubZen fetches currency exchange rates from the Frankfurter API, a free public API backed by the European Central Bank. These requests do not include any personal or subscription data. Only standard HTTP metadata (IP address) is transmitted as part of normal internet communication.
5. Service Logos
SubZen may fetch service logos from Logo.dev to display icons for known subscription services. These requests contain only the service domain name and no personal data.
6. Analytics
SubZen uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as screen views, feature usage, and app events. This helps us understand how the app is used and improve the experience. Firebase Analytics may collect:
- Device type and operating system version
- App version and session duration
- Screen views and feature interactions
- General location (country/region level, derived from IP address)
This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally. No subscription names, costs, or billing details are ever sent to Firebase. For more information, see Firebase's Privacy Policy.
7. Notifications
SubZen uses local notifications to remind you of upcoming billing dates. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device and are not sent through any external push notification service.
8. Third-Party Services
SubZen uses the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase Analytics - for anonymous usage analytics (no personal or subscription data sent)
- Frankfurter API - for exchange rates (no personal data sent)
- Logo.dev - for service logos (no personal data sent)
- Apple iCloud - only if you enable iCloud backup
9. Children's Privacy
SubZen is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
